We have evolved into a friendly group of lively, intelligent Seekers-of-Truth and Chewers-of-Fat who relish discussing topics across the social spectrum from truly shocking to fearlessly mundane. We raise and discuss the questions to which world leaders, governments, universities and, occasionally, charladies should find answers.
Members who have done some prior research into the day's subjects, and are able to cast some factual light upon the topics, are able to speak for any reasonable length of time. The trusty old kitchen-timer is set for 5 minutes, but can be extended.
The kitchen-timer is set for 2 minutes when members are unable to add to the group's collective knowledge, but understandably wish to add their personal opinion. We welcome everyone's opinion - but only 2 minutes of lively spirit and good humour are given to present personal ideas and opinions.
No voting takes place. The discussions are lively, thought-provoking and good humoured. The relaxed social gathering at tea-time is most enjoyable (biscuits are good, company is great). Members usually leave the meeting smiling. The group is relatively small and informal in a cosy venue; please contact Lis, 311294 or Gill 568055, to find out if there are arm-chair spaces available. |
